EDGE Professional Theatre would like to welcome our new troupe members!


Lisa Tosti

lisatroupeLisa Tosti is originally from Upstate New York. She holds a BFA in Theater Performance from Hofstra University. Before moving to Chicago, Lisa lived in Saratoga, NY, Boston and NYC performing with Saratoga Shakespeare, Sporadic Evolution Theater and Genesis Repertory Theater. After moving to Chicago in 2010, Lisa immediately dove into the theater scene, working with Metropolis Performing Arts Center, Remy Bumppo, Hell in a Handbag and the Plagiarists. It was in the Plagiarists’ show, Matryoshka, that Lisa met Orion Couling.

She first worked with EDGE in their 2013 production of MacSith and followed that quickly up with Princess Bride (ensemble) and Into the Woods (Lucinda, Little Red U/S). Lisa is also works with Unrehearsed Shakespeare Chicago where she was recently seen in Comedy of Errors and Henry V. She will be performing in January 2015 in Twelfth Night.

Favorite roles include: Lee (True West), Ophelia (Hamlet), Gabriella (High School Musical) and Mrs. Shin (Good Woman of Szechwan). Lisa is currently attending graduate school at North Park University to obtain her Master’s in Nonprofit Management. She is putting her new knowledge to use as EDGE Theater’s new Assistant General Manager. Lisa is honored to be a Troupe Member with EDGE. She can be seen in the upcoming EDGE remount of MacSith and their production of Hairspray with their special needs theater program. Much love to her follow troupe members, Orion Couling, and Matt Sauro, for being her constant rock and support.

Melissa Crabtree

Melissa Crabtree holds two degrees in theater (Music Theatre Performance & Applied Theatre) which she uses very frequently both performing and directing. She’s appeared in shows with companies such as: Light Opera Works, Woodstock Opera House, Janus Theater, Blue Fish Theatrical, Phoenix Ensamble, Navy Pier Entertainment, Tall Ship Windy Adventures and Edge Theater.  She won Australia’s 2011 GCAT for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her leading turn in Pheonix Ensamble’s All Shook Up. Off the stage, Melissa has spent the past 6 seasons directing musical theater prodcutions for Spotlight Youth Theater, Christian Youth Theater, St. Geniuses Productions, Dundee Crown High School and Schaumburg Summer Theater all while making time to run a private voice studio and teach for two local performing arts academies.


Katie Call

katieKatie Call is honored to be a member of the EDGE Troupe. Recent EDGE credits include A Staged Reading of Steampunk Christmas Carol (Teacher), Into The Woods (Stepmother), MacSith (Director’s Assistant/Understudy Lady Monduff) and Princess Bride (Director’s Assistant). She has also worked with 906 Theatre Co. as dramaturg for The Importance of Being Earnest and tackled various roles with The Unrehearsed Shakespeare Company of Chicago. She received her Bachelor’s degree in theatre arts from Northern Michigan University where she first met and performed with EDGE founders, Orion Couling and Rick Olsen. Katie can be seen making her film debut as Stacy, the annoying office worker, in the soon to be released thrasher indie film, Buzzard.

Alexandra Boroff

Alexandra Boroff has been working with EDGE since the fall of 2012 with the Ups for DownS program, and since the beginning of 2013 in the professional company. Roles with EDGE have included Ross in the upcoming remount of MacSith, Dana Barrett in Ghostbusted!, and Valerie in The Princess Bride: A Loving Tribute. Other favorites include: Thetis in Trojan War (Blunt Objects Theater), Maria in Twelfth Night (Unrehearsed Shakespeare Company) and Costard in Loves Labours Lost (Right Brain Project).

Miquela A. Cruz

Miquela A. Cruz is a native Chicagoan who has been acting, writing, directing and teaching for over 15 years. Previous gigs include performing writing, performing and mentoring with the Steppenwolf X-Town Teen Ensemble, pirating on the Tall Ship Windy, being one of the best summer camp counselors in the world at Harand Theatre Camp in addition to being seen in shows with Collaboraction, Chicago Kids Company and Rascal Children’s Theater. She is currently a Corn Productions Company Member, A Reasonable Facsimile Theatre Company (ARFTCo) Ensemble Member as well as being an EDGE Troupe Member. She’s currently working on completing her bucket list, which includes items such as skydiving with her mother, finishing writing her zombie apocalypse book and learning how to ride a bicycle.


Sydney Ray

headshot3Once upon a time, Sydney Ray was cast as Edith aboard the Tall Ship Windy in “Pirates of Penzance” where she met Orion Couling and several others from the Edge family.  Orion asked her one day “Do you like working with kids?” and, being from a family of thirteen, she said “Yes…” – and the adventures have kept rolling in ever since.  She’s been on the crew for the past three Edge/Ups for Downs Productions, has played The Baker’s Wife in their professional production of “Into the Woods” and has assisted with the Youth Theatre in “Nefarious.”  She finds so much joy in working with each aspect of Edge Theatre Co. and is excited to help imagine, create and continue the company with the next big journey as a Troupe Member.


Rick Olson

headshot4Rick Olson is excited and honored to become an EDGE Troupe member.  A founding member of EDGE, Rick has worked with the Youth Theatre wing of the company since January of 2011, where he continues to keep his focus as a Director, Teacher, and Script Adapter.  You may have seen RIck in the EDGE productions of THe Princess Bride as either Fezzik or Count Rugan and playing Siward in MacSith.  EDGE directing credits include Ghostbusted (twice!), Willy Wonka Jr., and the upcoming production of The Lottery.  Script adaptation credits include Ghostbusted, The Breakfast Club, Python in the Park and The Lottery.  Rick would like to thank all of the parents and families of EDGE for all of the support and dedication they have shown towards our productions over the years and to thank all of you reading this for helping EDGE grow and thrive in the months and years to come!

Shauna Warren

Shauna Warren is honored to be a part of the EDGE family. She considers it fate that she and Orion met, after working together on multiple productions together with The Plagiarists, Theatre Seven and Right Brain Project.

Shauna has been able to serve on the stage management team for Ghostbusters, the Princess Bride, Macsith and the Macsith remount. She is so thankful to her amazing actors, incredible stage management and designer peers and of course, THE Mr. Orion Couling. She’s looking forward to many more beautiful collaborations.
When not in blacks behind the scenes, Shauna loves to try new restaurants and especially enjoys attending many, many concerts in the city.

Stephan Scalbrino

Stephan Scalabrino is a native to Chicago and has been working professionally as an actor, combatant, and teacher for over 10 years. He graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Acting and Theatre education. He has been working in and around the city with such theaters as Chicago Shakespeare Theater, American Theater Company, and The Lyric Opera.  He started his time with EDGE theater in the 2013’s run of Macsith. Since then he has been in EDGE’s remounted production of “The Princess Bride” and has enjoyed a successful run of “Into The Woods” as the Wolf and Rapunzel’s Prince. In other media, he does motion capture for video games. He just finished working on his fourth game, “Mortal Kombat X” (as Scorpion, Kotal Kahn, Ermac and Rain) and previously has been in “Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe” (as Superman and Captain Marvel), “Mortal Kombat 9” (as Scorpion, Cyrax, and Nightwolf), and “Injustice: Gods Among us” (as Superman, Deathstroke, and Ares). In other “super hero” work, he is an actor for Marvel Character Appearances and has been all over the Nation as such characters as; Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Thor. He also works with various charities here at home such as “Chicago Loot Drop” and “Reading with Pictures” to bring joy and literacy to children at Comer Children’s Hospital and other parts of the city. As well he holds a teaching certification in High School Theater, English, and Communication. For 3 years he was the Assitant Coach of the Barrington High School speech and debate team and is a Phi Rho Pi National Prose winner for his time with the Harper College Forensics team. He takes great pride in showing how Theater and the arts can be the catalyst for great emotional discovery and fuel for the imaginations of children and teens. He hopes to carry this love into his work with EDGE and all its programs.

Zack Meyer

Zack Meyer has working with EDGE since our production of The Princess Bride: A Loving Tribute in 2013. “(Orion) wanted me to play Humperdink…and since I never play villains, I jumped at the chance.” In August, Zack leaves Chicago to join Ohio State’s Grad school class of 2018!

Zack Meyer is honored to be a part of EDGE Theatre Company and their mission. At 6 years old, Zack was going to college fairs hell bent on finding the right business school to suit his business-y aspirations. Now he teaches people how to sword fight and spins some sweet Shakespearean verse for rowdy drunkards. His mother is sooo proud. Zack is a Chicago Actor, Fight Director, Educator, and Docent. He is also an Artistic Associate with 20% Theatre Company, a Founding Member of The UnRehearsed Shakespeare Company of Chicago, and is an instructor with Dueling Arts International. troupe2Katy Jenkins

Katy Jenkins is originally from Hammond, LA. She holds a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance, and is an Actor’s Equity Membership Candidate. She first worked with EDGE in their production of Into the Woods, and is honored to be one of the newer troupe members! She has been involved with children’s theatre from an early age (six!) doing theatre as a child for other children, and continues to love it as a professional actor performing for children. She was mostly recently seen EDGE’s remount of MacSith, and is excited to play Sam in EDGE’s upcoming production of Lost Girls.

Some of her favorite credits include Into the Woods (Rapunzel), Little Shop of Horrors (Crystal), Book of Days (Ginger), and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Cobweb). Since graduating from college and moving to Chicago proper, Katy has been involved with several companies including First Folio Theatre, AlphaBet Soup Productions Children’s Theatre, and 906 Theatre Company, in addition to working with EDGE.

Finally, she’d like to thank all of EDGE, Dylan Crow for being her partner in everything, and her parents for always being ready to listen via phone or Skype to the newest stories of adventure.

Genevieve Lally

Genevieve LGenevieve Lally_HSally is a dance-maker, storyteller and adventurer. Movement design/choreography credits include MacSith and Holmes vs. Holmes, EDGE Theatre, Farewell My Friend, (re)discover theatre (ensemble member), The Tempest, What A Do Theatre (Wilde Award) and Duet for Hanging Steel: Water Pot, a piece about access to clean drinking water, at the Aerial Dance Festival, Boulder, CO. She has performed for Collaboractions’s Sketchbook, Lost Geneva Project, and The Actor’s Gymnasium, among others.  Internationally, she has trained and performed in Greece and Guinea. She holds a B.A. in Art and Theatre from Cornell College and travelled the world by ship studying Anthropology and Performance with Semester At Sea. Writing Credits include Context, (One Minute Play Festival) and Persephone, (Art of Adaptation Festival Winner, City Lit). She will be co-directing Persephone for Promethean Theatre Ensemble at the Chicago Fringe Fest this summer.  Favorite adventures include bicycling, scuba diving and re-imagining old stories.


 

Jonathan Crabtreecrabtree (original)

Jonathan Crabtree has been involved with E.D.G.E. Theatre since their production of Pirates of Penzance on The Tall Ship Windy back in 2013 (where he proposed to his now wife and fellow troupe member, Melissa Crabtree. Feel free to “awww” here). Since then he has graced the various E.D.G.E. stages as Miracle Max in The Princess Bride, and Scrooge in A Steampunk Christmas Carol. In addition, Jon has volunteered and performed with E.D.G.E. Theatre’s collaborations with UPS for DownS’ in their productions of Hairspray and The Music Man.

Jonathan has also performed with several other professional theatres throughout Chicagoland, including roles in The House of Mirth (Dead Writers Theatre Collective), The Madness of …Poe (First Folio Theatre),A Man for All Seasons (Bowen Park Theatre), and Becky’s New Car (Steel Beam Theatre).

His favorite cake is pie.


Stephanie Palko

Stephanie Ppalkoalko has been a Acting for most of her life. Whether it be in independent/ student films, extra work for various T.V. shows, making silly movies with her sister and cousins, or on stage. She enjoys it all. Stephanie trained at Second City, Columbia College and with Steven Ivcich, Ivcich taught her the most, and allowed her to find her true voice in the art of Acting. For the last 7 years she was a company member at Corn productions, where she was both Actor and Costume designer. She looks forward to seeing what the future holds in her new Theatre family.
